Penguins Goalie Casey DeSmith out for the remainder of the playoffs after undergoing surgery

The Pittsburgh Penguins announced Friday afternoon that goaltender Casey DeSmith will be out for the remainder of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

DeSmith underwent successful core muscle surgery Friday morning, according to the Penguins.

The surgery was performed by Dr. William Meyers of the Vincera Institute in Philadelphia.

There is still no update on when Tristan Jarry, the Penguins starting goaltender, may return to the lineup.
