The Peninsula Health Center is moving to a newly renovated building later in September.

The health center will be moving to the former Stratford University building at 836 J Clyde Morris Blvd. beginning Sept. 15.

The move is the culmination of planned renovation and relocation efforts approved by Newport News City Council in 2022 as part of a partnership with Riverside Health System. The health center is moving from its location near Riverside Regional Medical Center at J Clyde Morris and Warwick boulevards.

“We believe the move will facilitate streamlined services and allow us become a hub of public health resources and programs for the Peninsula community,” Dr. Natasha Dwamena, health district director for both the Hampton and Peninsula Health Districts, said in a news release.

The new location is closer to Interstate 64 and more centrally located to Virginia Peninsula cities, Newport News Mayor Phillip Jones said in the release.

The center will continue to offer services and programs like a pre-exposure prophylaxis program (PrEP), immunizations, family planning, environmental health and cancer screenings, among others.

The move will occur in two phases, with the first phase happening Sept. 14, 15 and 18 and the second on Sept. 28, 29 and Oct. 2. For more information about temporary clinic closures during the move, visit www.vdh.virginia.gov/hampton-peninsula.
