Penn State’s basketball season capped one of the most successful runs by the program in years only to see its head coach leave to take another job. And with an offseason of changes in the air in Happy Valley, the management of the roster is a massive task to address moving forward.

In addition to graduating players and NBA draft entrants, Penn State is also seeing some potential changes in the transfer port. The transfer portal served Penn State quite well the past couple of seasons with the additions of players like Jalen Pickett, Camren Wynter, and Andrew Funk. Can they thrive with transfers once again?

Here is an updated look at who is coming and going by way of the transfer portal for Penn State this offseason.

TRANSFER PORTAL: Evan Mahaffey

David Yeazell-USA TODAY Sports

Position: Forward

New school: TBD

Evan Maheffey played off the bench in his freshman season with the Nittany Lions and was expected to see a more significant role on the roster in 2023-24. In 34 appearances in 2022-23, Mahaffey averaged 2.8 points per game and 1.7 rebounds per game. Mahaffey was a three-star recruit in Penn State’s Class of 2022.

TRANSFER PORTAL: Jameel Brown

Position: Guard

New school: TBD

Another young and promising player on Penn State’s roster, Jameel Brown averaged just 4.6 minutes per game off the bench for the Nittany Lions as a freshman in the 2022-23 season. He is another player who likely would see an increased role if he stays at Penn State next season.

TRANSFER PORTAL: Kebba Njie

Kyle Ross-USA TODAY Sports

Position: Forward

New school: TBD

Kebba Njie was the fifth player to enter the transfer portal and the third from the Class of 2022. Njie played a key role as a freshman to provide some good defense and size under the basket.

LEAVING: Caleb Dorsey

Matthew OHaren-USA TODAY Sports

Position: Forward

New school: William & Mary

Caleb Dorsey battled some injury issues in the 2022-23 season that kept him sidelined for much of the year, and saw him play a brief role when he was able to get on the court. Dorsey scored 37 points with an average of 2.2 rebounds per game.

Dorsey has spent three seasons at Penn State, which leaves him with two more years of eligibility with a redshirt season to use. He also gets an extra year of eligibility as a result of the COVID season, should he choose to use it.

LEAVING: Dallion Johnson

Matthew OHaren-USA TODAY Sports

Position: Guard

New school: Florida Gulf Coast

Dallion Johnson has spent three seasons in Happy Valley, giving him two more years of eligibility to take with him, along with the extra season due to the COVID season should he choose to use it.
