Penn State extends offer to Texas A&M DL Elijah Jeudy
Penn State likes to keep the top talent in Pennsylvania close to home on the recruiting trail, but sometimes some of the best talent lands elsewhere when it comes time to make a commitment. But, thanks to the transfer portal, Penn State has an opportunity to bring a former top 10 recruit from the state back home.
Elijah Jeudy, a defensive lineman from Texas A&M, was among the hundreds of players to enter the transfer portal on Monday, and Penn State was quick to extend an offer to the Philadelphia native. Jeudy announced he received an offer from Penn State on his Twitter account on Monday. The former All-American Bowl recruit with a four-star rating from 247Sports is pretty familiar with Penn State from his high school recruiting process, and the Nittany Lions coaching staff is likely hoping that helps create an inside track to adding Jeudy to the program from the transfer portal.
Jeudy made four unofficial visits to Penn State in 2019 and one back in 2018 early on in the recruiting process for the Class of 2021. Jeudy eventually became a hot target for Texas A&M and the Aggies took momentum in the recruiting process. Jeudy committed to the Aggies in the Class of 2021 and enrolled early in January 2021. Jeudy redshirted for Texas A&M in 2021 and made appearances in two games this season.
Penn State isn’t the only school hoping to lure Jeudy their way from the portal. Among the other offers Jeudy announced he had received on Monday included Nebraska, Boston College Syracuse, Virginia Tech, and Colorado. Jeudy also announced he will be making a visit to Nebraska this weekend. Nebraska recently hired Matt Rhule, who was a successful head coach at Temple, so expect the Philly connection to be Rhule’s strategy on his recruiting pitch.

Penn State is in a good spot with the top of its defensive line heading into 2023 but it never hurts to add quality depth to the roster, and Jeudy has the potential to still be an impact player in the right spot. Jeudy’s transfer decision will be one worth paying close attention to for Penn State.
