Penn State wrestling’s 2023-24 schedule is out. Check out a full breakdown

Penn State wrestling announced its 2023-2024 schedule and it includes seven home duals, one of which will be a Monday night wrestling event in the Bryce Jordan Center.

The season starts on Nov. 12 with the Nittany Lions participating in the individual round-robin tournaments, starting with the Journeymen Collegiate Classic at Freedom High School in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

The defending national champions’ official duals don’t start until Dec. 3, when the blue and white hosts Lehigh at Rec Hall.

Despite the late start, Penn State will host the NWCA All-Star Classic on Nov. 21. The All-Star Classic is a series of exhibition contests between some of the most highly touted wrestlers in the country.

Last season’s classic featured the likes of Carter Starocci, Aaron Brooks and Greg Kerkvliet. While the bouts haven’t been set yet, Nittany Lion fans can expect a similar turnout now that the classic has made its way to Rec Hall.

Following these two matchups, Penn State will then gear up for Hofstra on Dec. 10 before it heads on break until the New Year.

When the New Year commences, Cael Sanderson’s squad will make the cross-country journey to Corvallis, Oregon, where it will take on Oregon State on Jan. 5. That will be the only non-conference matchup of the month, as the Big Ten schedule begins on Jan. 14 against Indiana, followed by Michigan, Michigan State and Maryland.

In February, the grapplers out of Happy Valley will get the chance to circle a few matchups on its calendar, as it travels to Iowa City to take on Iowa, on Feb. 9.

Upon returning, the team will get a chance to create its rendition of WWE’s Monday Night Raw, as it hosts its only BJC dual of the season on Feb. 12, against Rutgers. It’s a change from last season when the squad had two matchups in the arena and also marks a first for Penn State wrestling, as previous BJC duals have been held on weekends.

Penn State rounds out its regular schedule at home with a non-conference matchup with Edinboro at 1 p.m. on Feb. 25.

The postseason will then follow as College Park is set to host the Big Ten Championships from Mar. 9-10 before Kansas City, Missouri, sponsors the NCAA Championships from Mar. 21-23.
