Sep. 8—Bushy Run Lions to hold fall broom sale

The Bushy Run Lion Club will be selling brooms from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept 15-17 in the S. & T. Bank parking lot, 4021 Route 130, Harrison City.

A variety of brooms will be available, including household, garage, push (stiff and soft bristle), whisk and toy/craft.

Penn Township Senior Citizens meeting

The Penn Township Senior Citizens will meet Sept. 27 at the Community Church, 3487 Route 130, Harrison City. Lunch is $6 and will be served at 1 p.m. before the meeting begins at 2 p.m.

Entertainment will be the G Boys. Dues are $2 and masks are optional.

Military Food Share registration is underway

The Norwin Elks, 135 Elks Lane, Manor, will host a Military Food Share program from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Oct. 13 .

All Westmoreland County veterans and active duty military, including National Guard and Reserve personnel, are eligible to participate.

Working with the Westmoreland Food Bank, the distribution is limited to the first 120 veterans who preregister no later than Sept. 29 by calling the Pennsylvania National Guard Family Program at 717-836-4903.

Open mic bike night at American Legion Post

Cliff Jobe will host an open mic bike night from 5-8 p.m. Sept. 21 at American Legion Post 260, 3002 Main St. in Penn Township's Claridge neighborhood.

There will be drinks, "Mikey Burgers" and a 50/50. All proceeds will benefit local veterans. The event is open to the public.

Penn-Trafford distributes backpacks

Penn-Trafford's "Backpacks-To-Go" program recently received donations of supplies from FedEx Express Corp.'s Plum and Hunker locations and from the Community Church's "Beyond the Walls" program.

The organizations collected supplies to support the program, which was developed in response to some students students not having access to the school breakfast and/or lunch program on weekends.

Children enrolled in the program take home a backpack containing nutritious food on alternating Fridays.
