PennDOT offers details of road improvements near Thiel College

Jan. 4—GREENVILLE — Roads well traveled next to Thiel College are getting a new look.

On Wednesday, PennDOT unveiled its new plans to smooth out turns on state routes 18 and 58 next to the Greenville college. The intersection is well known among those traveling to and from Jamestown, Linesville, Pymatuning and Conneaut lakes.

The plans, open for online public comment, involves Route 18 from Route 358 to Mill Hill Road, and Route 58 from Route 18 to East Craig Street.

Three intersections will be realigned:

— Route 18 and Route 58

— Route 18 and Packard Avenue

— Route 58 and Packard Avenue

Proposed work includes new or upgraded sidewalks, curb ramps, driveway entrances, milling and paving, new traffic signals, and updates to drainage and pavement markings.

This upgraded plan shows work Thiel College will perform, Jill Harry, a PennDOT spokeswoman said.

"Thiel College wants to do additional sidewalk work and other things at the same time with our project," Harry said. Part of the sidewalk work funded by Thiel is to improve access and pedestrian flow.

Most of the project is state and federal funded.

Public comment are invited on the plan where construction is tentatively to take place this year and next year.
