Pennsylvania man charged with decapitating dad, posting video on YouTube arrested at Fort Indiantown Gap

(WPHL/WHTM) — A Bucks County man was arrested at Fort Indiantown Gap and charged in the gruesome murder of his father, who was found beheaded inside the family’s Middletown Township home on Tuesday night, according to police.

Justin Mohn, 32, has been charged with murder and abuse of a corpse, among other charges, after police say he allegedly decapitated his father and then posted the brutal act on YouTube.

According to police, officers responded to the 100 block of Upper Orchard Drive at around 7 p.m. on Tuesday after the victim’s wife called 911 to report the discovery of her husband Michael’s bloody and decapitated body found inside the upstairs bathroom of their family home.

When officers arrived, they located the victim, reportedly in his 60s, and pronounced him dead. Police say in a criminal complaint that a machete and a large kitchen knife were found at the scene and the victim’s head was in a plastic bag inside a cooking pot.

Before fleeing, police say Mohn fled the scene and posted a disturbing video online depicting the brutal murder of his father, said police. The video was reportedly viewed at least 5,000 times before it was taken down.

Parts of the more than 14 minute video titled “Mohn’s Militia – Call to Arms for American patriots” are still surfacing online where Mohn identifies himself and appears to show off his father’s decapitated head to the camera saying “he is now in hell for eternity.”

Mohn was later arrested near Fort Indiantown Gap in Lebanon County, which is about 100 miles from the crime scene. Police were able to track Mohn down by pinging his cell phone to the area. Mohn initially ran from the police, but they were able to bring him into custody.

The Pennsylvania Department of Military Affairs tells abc27 the phone pinged in the vicinity of the Indiantown Gap Cemetery around 9 p.m. Police from the base searched the area and two area businesses were asked to go on lockdown.

Mohn’s abandoned vehicle was found near a front gate and the cell phone continued to ping inside the base. Officials say Mohn climbed over a fence into the base and was taken into custody armed with a pistol.

Military officials are not commenting on why Mohn traveled to Fort Indiantown Gap.

Mohn was arraigned on video early Wednesday morning because of the severity of the charges.

The motive for the killing is still under investigation.

Mohn is being held without bail. He is scheduled to appear in court for his preliminary hearing on February 8.
