Pennsylvania police arrest Potter County man on New York state murder warrant

Pennsylvania State Police arrested a Coudersport man wanted in New York state for murder.

Coudersport-based troopers said Jacob M. Vanbergen, 24, was taken into custody in the Pennsylvania township of Sweden Saturday afternoon.

The arrest, officials said, was based on an active New York state warrant for second-degree murder.

Potter County District Attorney Andy Watson said the New York state warrant is out of Lewis County but Watson could not provide additional details.

Vanbergen appeared in Magisterial District Court, where bail was denied and he was ordered held at the Potter County Jail in Coudersport. Pennsylvania State Police said Vanbergen remains in custody pending extradition to New York state.
