Pennsylvania State Police release identity of deceased woman

Feb. 27—SPARTA TOWNSHIP — Pennsylvania State Police now have released the identity of the woman who was found dead inside a Sparta Township home around midday Monday.

The woman has been identified as 23-year-old Rebekah A. Byler, state police said this morning.

Authorities are investigating Byler's death as a homicide, though no official ruling on either the manner or cause of death has been made at this time. An autopsy is scheduled this afternoon in Erie.

The home, located in the 21000 block of Fish Flats Road in Sparta Township is about 4 miles south of the borough of Spartansburg in northeastern Crawford County.

Other details regarding the circumstances surrounding the woman's death have not been released as yet.

State police are "aggressively investigating all available leads," according to a news release.
