Pensacola-area February restaurant inspections: 7 administrative complaints reported

The Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation showed some love to Escambia and Santa County restaurants for the month of February during their latest round of restaurant inspections, with 88 restaurants receiving zero violations. Seven received an administrative complaint.

Seven restaurants receive administrative complaints:

Casks and Flights, 121 S. Palafox Place, Suite B

Following a Feb. 22 inspection from the DBPR, Casks and Flights received two violations involving roaches on the premises. Upon inspection, seven live roaches were found in the dishwashing and mop sink area, which is not located in the kitchen, next to the three-compartment sink and reach-in freezer. Another 11 dead roaches were found in the same area.

Casks and Flights were cited with the same violations the following day. A follow-up inspection is still required.

Facto’s Snack Shack, 4027 N. Davis Highway

Following a Feb. 6 inspection from the DBPR, Facto’s Snack Shack received 13 violations, one which was high priority, seven intermediate and five basic offenses. The high priority violation being that food was not being stored at the proper temperature for the time frame. Other lower-level offenses included soiled food-contact surfaces, no soap or paper towel provided at the hand wash sink and no probe thermometer provided to measure the temperature of foods.

In a follow-up inspection also on Feb. 6, the restaurant had reduced their violations down to two that both involved lacking certifications, including a food manager certification and state approved employee training. A follow-up inspection is still required.

House of Chong, 3820 W. Navy Boulevard

Following a Feb. 22 inspection from the DBPR, House of Chong received a single violation for operating with an expired Division of Hotels and Restaurants license, resulting in an administrative complaint. A follow-up inspection is still required.

Sky Zone Pensacola, 5007 N. Davis Highway, Unit 8A

Following a Feb. 17 inspection from the DBPR, Sky Zone received a single violation for not having proof of required state employee training provided for any employees, resulting in an administrative complaint. A follow-up inspection is still required.

Dinner India, 201 S. New Warrington Road

Following a Feb. 14 inspection from the DBPR, Dinner India received a sole violation for lacking proof of food manager certification, resulting in an administrative complaint. A follow-up inspection is still required.

Bistro 98, 5248 Gulf Breeze Parkway

Following a Feb. 15 inspection from the DBPR, the restaurant received four violations, including a high priority violation for operating with an expired Division of Hotels and Restaurants license. Other intermediate offenses included a soiled food-contact surface, a missing chemical test kit when using cleaning sanitizer and a missing consumer advisory for raw foods. A follow-up inspection is still required.

Lao Ocean, 368 Gulf Breeze Parkway

Following a Feb. 8 inspection from the DBPR, the restaurant received eight violations. Three of the violations were deemed a high priority included not changing single use gloves when needed, raw animal food not being stored properly and operating with an expired Division of Hotels and Restaurants license. The restaurant met inspection standards later that same day.
