Pensacola Beach clerk caught on viral video firing gun after being threatened won't be charged

A Pensacola Beach convenience store clerk who fired a gun outside after being threated by multiple men inside his store won't be charged.

A video of the incident went viral after it was picked up by "hoodviewstv."

"We have reviewed the video footage of an incident that occurred on Monday, May 29 at 1:30 a.m. at the Circle K on Pensacola Beach," an Escambia County Sheriff's Office Facebook post stated. "Based on that review and information gathered at the scene, we will not be bringing charges against the clerk at this time."

The Facebook post says there were as many as five people involved in the disturbance who walking in and out of the store threatening the clerk. The video shows other patrons taking cover between the aisles to avoid the incident. Eventually, the clerk grabbed a handgun, walked from around the corner, walked outside and fired two rounds.

"The individuals involved chose not to press charges, and there is nothing to discount the clerk's statement regarding what the five individuals were doing at the time he fired," the Facebook post says. "He felt threatened by the collective actions both inside and outside the store."

In the post, ECSO Sheriff Chip Simmons said, "It just doesn't seem right to me to make the clerk a felon based upon these circumstances."
