Pensacola man who allegedly stabbed girlfriend and her son arrested at ECAT bus station

The Escambia County Sheriff's Office announced Thursday they found the suspect in Monday's double stabbing that left an 18-year-old with 15 stab wounds.

ECSO spokeswoman Morgan Lewis told the News Journal that 48-year-old Tamondo Derell Reuben was apprehended just after 8 a.m. at the ECAT bus station on the corner of Fairfield Drive and L Street, less than a half mile from the sheriff's office.

"We were there shortly after (the call)," Lewis said. "He tried to walk away but we quickly apprehended him."

Reuben is charged with two counts of attempted murder, robbery, kidnapping and grand theft after allegedly stabbing his 47-year-old girlfriend in the chest and stabbing her 18-year-old son 15 times Monday. He was also charged with obstructing justice and violating his probation, according to online jail records.

Sheriff Chip Simmons held a press conference Tuesday and said deputies were dispatched to the 3100 block of Fairfield Drive Monday at 4 p.m. where they found the female victim had been stabbed in the chest. She advised authorities her son had also been stabbed and "was running for his life."

The stabbing reportedly occurred earlier in the day Monday at a cemetery on Massachusetts Avenue, according to the sheriff, after Reuben allegedly pulled out the knife while in the back of the car, put it to the son's neck and stated he was not ready to leave.

After allegedly stabbing the woman in the center of the chest, he drove to a vacant lot on Fairfield Drive, took their phones and told them they "were going to die today," according to Simmons.

"Seizing the opportunity, the female grabbed the bottle of pepper spray from her purse, grabbed (Reuben's) head and sprayed Reuben while imploring her son to run," Simmons said during the press conference. "The 18-year-old fled but was chased by Reuben. When Reuben caught him, he began stabbing the 18-year-old multiple times."

The son had 15 stab wounds to his arms, legs, neck and chest areas, according to Simmons. The woman drove across the street to get help after Reuben allegedly chased her son.

As of Thursday morning, Reuben was held without bond at the Escambia County Jail.
