Pensacon announces 60 years of Doctor Who with five doctors, four companions

Pensacon has announced that it will bring five doctors and four companions from the "Doctor Who" universe as the franchise celebrates 60 years.

Set for Feb. 24-26 in downtown Pensacola, Florida, Pensacon 2023 will feature the following "Doctor Who” stars:

  • Christopher Eccleston, the Ninth Doctor and a veteran actor also known for roles in “Thor: The Dark World,” “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra,” “The Leftovers,” “28 Days Later,” “Heroes,” “Gone in 60 Seconds” and much more.

  • Paul McGann, the Eighth Doctor, also known for roles in “Withnail & I,” “Alien 3,” “Queen of the Damned,” “Luther” and “Hornblower,” among many other roles.

  • Sylvester McCoy, the Seventh Doctor, also known as Radagast the Brown in Peter Jackson’s trilogy of “The Hobbit” films as well as for “Sense8” and director Rob Zombie’s upcoming reboot of “The Munsters,” among others.

  • Colin Baker, the Sixth Doctor, also known for roles in “The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles,” “Blake's 7,” “War & Peace,” “The Brothers” and many more.

  • Peter Davison, the Fifth Doctor, also known for “All Creatures Great and Small,” “Campion,” “The Last Detective,” “Law & Order: UK” and many others.

  • Daphne Ashbrook, who played Grace Holloway, companion of the Eighth Doctor, whose other roles include spots on “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” “CSI,” “JAG,” “The O.C.” and “NCIS.”

  • Sophie Aldred, who played Ace, companion to the Seventh Doctor. It was recently announced that Aldred will return to “Doctor Who” as Ace as part of the 60th anniversary celebration.

  • Nicola Bryant, who played Peri Brown, companion to the Fifth and Sixth Doctors, whose other roles include appearances in “Blackadder” and “The Biz.”

  • Janet Fielding, who played Tegan Jovanka, companion to the Fifth Doctor, and set to return to “Doctor Who” as Tegan alongside Sophie Aldred for the anniversary.

These announcements comprise the biggest line-up of “Doctor Who” stars seen at a U.S. convention, spanning decades of the show’s history from the classic series through to its modern-day continuation.

The unprecedented gathering joins an already impressive Pensacon 2023 lineup featuring Miriam Margolyes, known as Professor Sprout from the "Harry Potter" film series; "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Gilmore Girls" star Sean Gunn; "Peacemaker" and "The Suicide Squad" star Steve Agee; James Arnold Taylor, voice of Obi Wan Kenobi in "Star Wars: The Clone Wars"; veteran voice actress Grey Delisle Griffin ("Avatar: The Last Airbender," "Scooby-Doo"); singer-actress Adassa, known for playing Dolores in Disney's "Encanto"; and a "Clerks" reunion featuring Jason Mewes, Brian O'Halloran, Jeff Anderson, Marilyn Ghigliotti, Trevor Fehrman and Scott Schiaffo, among dozens of other guests.

Pensacon 2023: Pensacon sees record 2022 crowds, sets dates for 2023 event

Three-day weekend passes are currently available for $65 through Labor Day, after which the price will increase. A very limited number of VIP Experience passes, which include free parking while available, priority admission to all events and panels, front of line privileges, and exclusive VIP merchandise are available for $165. Single-day tickets will be made available beginning Jan. 1.
