Pensacon HalloweenFest isn't just a frightful fun time, it's raising funds for good cause

Pensacon is supporting the mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Florida with a special raffle-style charity auction set to take place during Pensacon HalloweenFest, scheduled for Oct. 1-2 at Splash City Adventures, 6709 Pensacola Blvd.

Attendees will have the opportunity to take home a variety of unique collectables, autographed items and original artwork donated by past Pensacon vendors, artists and celebrity guests.

Tickets may be purchased during the event, and unlike a standard raffle, purchasers can choose which items they wish to compete for. Put as many tickets as you like on any individual item to increase your chance of winning that item.

Items up for auction include autographed photos and banners from a wide variety of past Pensacon celebrity guests; original art by a wide variety of Pensacon artist guests, including original comics pages and unique sketches created during Pensacon’s annual “Drink & Draw” event; signed books; limited edition art prints and much more.

Drawings will take place throughout the free, two-day event, and participants must be present to win. Tickets will sell for $1 each, $8 for 10, $20 for 30 or $35 for 50, with all proceeds benefiting the mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Florida.

The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Florida (RMHC) is to love and support families of children with medical needs by giving them a place to call home. With the Ronald McDonald House and Ronald McDonald Family Room programs, RMHC offers much more than just a place to stay — they provide meals, family activities, peer support, resources for siblings, respite, laundry facilities, and many other services to care for families with ill or injured children within the community.

In addition to the charity auction, Pensacon HalloweenFest will feature two days full of spooky, family-friendly fun with a Pensacon flavor, including trick-or-treating, costume contests, live entertainment, vendors and special celebrity and artist guests. Among those scheduled to appear are “The Munsters” star Butch Patrick along with the Munsters Koach vehicle; Kenny James, the voice of Bowser from the “Super Mario” video game franchise; the original Christine car from John Carpenter’s classic film; and artists Mark Maddox and Steven Butler.

Admission to HalloweenFest is free. In addition to the festivities, Splash City Adventures’ full array of rides and attractions will be open and the event will kick off the month-long Haunted Nights Halloween celebration, with wristbands and VIP packages available for purchase.
