The People Behind Cards Against Humanity Are Opening a Board Game Bar in Chicago

The only thing that can make everyone’s favorite party game, Cards Against Humanity, more fun is by adding delicious food and drinks.

According to Delish, the team who brought the world the hilarious, demented, and always fun card game is now opening up a board game bar in Chicago. Not only will the bar be the place to have the ultimate Cards Against Humanity showdown, but it will also be stocked up with over 300 other board games, like Monopoly and Scrabble, as well.

“We've been making games for almost 10 years now, and we've seen that games, food, and theater have an incredible capacity to bring people together and create community," said Cards Against Humanity co-creator Max Temkin to Food & Wine. “It has been our dream for a long time to do a really ambitious version of a game cafe and share it with people. We hope it doesn't fail in an embarrassing fashion.”

The Chicago Board Game Cafe is already taking reservations for next year when it opens on Jan. 10, Food & Wine reported. Reservations are for two hours and cost a $30 per person deposit for food and drinks.

But you’ll definitely get a lot of bang for your buck. According to Food & Wine, the bar will be offering an “internationally inspired” menu that ranges in price between $14 and $60 per item. The full menu is not online yet, but a spokesperson told Food & Wine that customers can expect items like “queso-topped Huaraches,” “Kebab Halabi,” and “Nam Tok Neua.”

In addition to board games, the bar will have two themed escape rooms. One room is a Cold War-era apocalyptic theme while the other room is a space rescue mission.

And if you’re ever unsure how to play the games the bar has to offer, there will be game “teachers” on-site to help you with all of your questions.

Reservations must be for groups between two and six people. At the moment, bookings are only online for January. For more information or to reserve yourself a spot in 2020, visit the Chicago Board Game Cafe website.
