Karen McConnell earns Million Dollar Guild recognition

Lakeland Chamber hires new employees

The Lakeland Chamber of Commerce has hired several new employees to serve Lakeland’s businesses. Kristen Spiker-Brenneman joined the chamber as director of The Lakeland Convention & Visitor Bureau. A Central Florida native, Spiker-Brenneman hails from Plant City and relocated to Lakeland in 2012. She came to the chamber after three years at Florida Polytechnic University, where she supported fundraising operations, events and database administration. Jon Miller joined the chamber as director of public affairs. He is an award-winning marketing strategist who serves advocacy and brand clients nationwide using data analytics. Takiyah Dixon joined the chamber as director of business resources. With her educational-based experience, Dixon will work on creating educational programing and workshops for local business owners and cultivate the talent pipeline in Lakeland. Faith Carr joined the chamber as business connection specialist. She hails from Arkansas, where she attended Arkansas State University to obtain a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Carr moved to Lakeland to be closer to her family. Libia Taylor is the chamber’s new information specialist. Taylor works closely with the Lakeland Convention and Visitors Bureau to welcome guests visiting Lakeland. She has a degree in hotel management from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Florida Bar to honor 605 50-year members at luncheon

The Florida Bar will honor 605 attorneys and senior counselors for 50 years of dedication to the practice of law during a luncheon at The Florida Bar Annual Convention at the Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek in Orlando. The luncheon, which is coordinated by the Senior Lawyers Committee, will be held at 12:30 p.m., June 24. Marjorie Gadarian Graham, a 50-year honoree, will be the featured speaker. The Tenth Circuit attorneys being honored are: Allan Lewis Casey, Winter Haven; Deming Cowles IV, Babson Park; Ben Homer Darby Jr., Lakeland; Boyd Lee Debault, Lake Wales; Samuel Elmer Duke, Frostproof; Christopher Murdock Fear, Lakeland; John Edgar Hendry, Lake Placid; Gerald Paul Hill, Winter Haven; James Terrell Joiner, Winter Haven; James Marion Moorman, Winter Haven; Peter J. Wade Harvey named to Best-in-State Wealth Advisers list
