People Flock to France's Trocadero Fountain During Record Heat

Tourists in Paris hopped into the Trocadero fountain to try to beat the heat on Thursday, July 25, as the country was hit with its hottest temperatures ever recorded.

Temperatures in the region rose to 42.6 C (108.7 F) on Thursday, local media said. The previous record high of 40.4 C (104.7 F) was set in 1947.

Local media said trains in Britain and France were canceled, and French officials encouraged people to stay home instead of traveling.

Meteo-France said temperatures on Friday were expected to “drop dramatically” in western France but the heat would continue in the east. The heat wave was forecast to end Saturday, Meteo-France said. Credit: Irish in France via Storyful
