Bruce Bogtrotter is one of the most truly memorable children's movies characters of all time. Despite the fact he's only in Matilda for one scene, you can still picture it like it was just yesterday. In fact, it's been 25 years since Matilda was released and Brucie (and his giant chocolate cake) became an icon for the ages. Well, fans have discovered that Bruce aka Jimmy Karz looks somewhat different today. And when we say 'different', we mean completely unrecognisable.

If you can believe it, it's been a full 25 years since Matilda was released. The film, based on Roald Dahl's 1988 children's book of the same name follows a young genius called Matilda Wormwood who develops the ability to move objects with her mind. The film is absolutely full of memorable moments, from the Cheerios scene to Miss Trunchbull demonstrating her shotput skills with poor Amanda's pigtails.

But one of the most iconic scenes comes when Trunchbull forces a pupil named Bruce Bogtrotter to eat an entire (and truly enormous) chocolate cake, as punishment for stealing a slice of it from her. You know the following scene well, and it's probably hard to imagine that our Brucie could ever look any different, but recently a picture of the now 36-year-old Jimmy Karz who played Bruce has been doing the rounds on social media and people cannot believe their eyes.

According to an interview he gave with the American Osteopathic Association, the cake scene actually took a full three weeks to film, putting Karz off chocolate for quite some time afterwards.

"I had to be on set all day, and I had to wear the same outfit every day. The chocolate was already encrusted on this shirt I was wearing. For continuity’s sake, every day I had to have the chocolate painted on my face the way it was painted on the day before. I despised the smell of chocolate for a few weeks after that."

After a few years working for MTV Karz eventually went into medicine, and is now a fully trained Osteopath. Well done, Brucie.
