People are mad that Harry and Meghan didn't refer to baby Louis by his royal title, and can everyone just chill?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are receiving flak for the way they reacted to these photos of Prince Louis on his first birthday, and can they live?

It’s hard to believe, but Prince Louis just celebrated his first birthday on April 23rd, and Prince William and Kate Middleton celebrated by releasing some seriously adorable photos ahead of their youngest child’s big day. However, while most royal fans went gaga over the happy, smiley shots, some were decidedly unhappy—specifically with a comment from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, aka Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

From their own newly-minted Instagram account, the couple sent a sweet message to their nephew, writing, “Happy Birthday Louis! Sending lots of love from both of us,” adding a birthday cake and red balloon emoji and signing off with “xo.” The birthday greeting quickly racked up thousands of likes and supportive comments, but some were quick to point out that they didn’t use Prince Louis’s official royal title.

Others were much more supportive, reiterating that Harry and Meghan are Prince Louis’s aunt and uncle, and likely don’t use his royal title because he’s, you know, a baby who doesn’t care about these formalities. We’re sure that they meant no disrespect in their wishes to their nephew, so here’s hoping we can all just move on (and that Prince Louis had a fun-filled first birthday celebration, of course).
