Montgomery McCracken Walker & Rhoads attorneys and staff sponsored and ran in the “Back on My Feet” five-mile run. The organization raised over $80,000 to help with its mission to combat homelessness through the power of running, community support and essential employment and housing resources. Holy Cross High School in Lackawanna County won the 36th annual Pennsylvania Bar Association Statewide High School Mock Trial Competition, which took place at the Dauphin County Courthouse in Harrisburg.

The competition is sponsored by the PBA young lawyers division.

A first state finals win for the school, Holy Cross High School is set to represent Pennsylvania in the national mock trial finals May 16–18 in Athens, Georgia.

The Holy Cross High School mock trial team is composed of students Elizabeth Arbie, Maggie Arcuri, Christian Ceccoli, Dawson Errigo, Serge Grega, Nicholas Klein, Caroline Kranick, Joe Lennon, Jordan McAndrew, Sarah Mies, Lauren Palmiter, Ericka Pica, Gianna Sacchetti, Mia Sandy and Olivia Zehel. The teacher coach is Janine Wetter.

The attorney advisors are Francesca Kester and Jim Wetter.

U.S. District Judge Karoline Mehalchick for the Middle District of Pennsylvania presided over the final round of competition.

Elected and Appointed

Cordell & Cordell, a domestic litigation firm focusing on representing men in family law cases, recently promoted divorce attorney William J. Phelan IV to lead litigator.

Phelan, who practices out of Cordell & Cordell’s Philadelphia office, earned his Juris Doctor from The Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law.

He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and currently serves on the executive committee of the Doris Jonas Freed Matrimonial American Inn of Court.

As lead litigator, Phelan manages his own cases and oversees case work being completed by associate and litigation attorneys on his team.

Additions

Dilworth Paxson announced the addition of attorney Timothy J. Ford to the firm’s litigation department.

Ford focuses his practice in the areas of complex litigation, investigations and appeals with an emphasis on the public sector, including political and election law and ethics investigations.

He counsels clients in all phases of high-stakes, sensitive litigation and investigations, from pre-litigation advice, pleadings, motions practice and discovery, through trial and appeal.

Ford’s background also includes government and politics experience at the state and federal levels, having worked on campaigns and in government and in the executive, legislative and judicial branches.

Representative matters include constitutional litigation in state and federal court, nomination petition challenges and defenses, and campaign finance and public ethics investigations.

Prior to joining Dilworth, Ford served as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge Timothy J. Savage for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

He also worked as an associate in a Washington, D.C., law firm where he focused on litigation and investigations in international trade and a Philadelphia law firm where he practiced commercial litigation and election law.
