People Are Revealing Wedding Guests — And Even Family Members — Who Were Completely Horrible And Nearly Ruined Their Loved One's Wedding Day

Unfortunately, weddings can sometimes bring out the worst in people, for a myriad of reasons, which means they end up doing something incredibly disrespectful during the wedding ceremony or reception.

For instance, maybe a wedding guest wore a head-to-toe white outfit, or maybe the mother of the bride's speech had nothing to do with the couple and everything to do with her.
And since wedding season is in full swing, we asked the BuzzFeed Community: "What’s the most disrespectful thing you’ve ever seen a guest do at a wedding?" And we gathered some of the most jaw-dropping stories below.
1."When the best man announced that the bride was pregnant during his groomsmen's speech and the parents of the bride (very traditional family) had not been told yet. The entire place went silent."

2."The happy couple had met at university and got married soon after graduation. Their wedding cake had a sugar decoration made of their college's crest, artfully done in fondant and it was hand-painted. The grandmother of the groom (who made it clear she thought the bride wasn't good enough for him) took the sugar college crest off the cake in full view of the whole reception and gave it to her horrible slobbery dog. The dog ate it immediately and vomited brightly colored puke all over one of the bridesmaids about five minutes later."
"She claimed she didn't touch the cake or give it to her dog. The groom was super nice and only made her take the dog home. The bride was livid."

3."I watched a 'cake cutter' (who was an older relative) use the knife and her finger to lift up each piece of cake and place it onto a plate. She would then lick the frosting off of her finger and then proceed to cut and plate another piece of cake using the same knife and finger method. Needless to say, I did not enjoy any wedding cake that night!"

4."My husband and I own a wedding venue. A few years back, we hosted a wedding for a bride with a very jealous stepmother (SM). She and the father of the bride (FOB) eloped a few months prior but never celebrated their nuptials properly. The SM was extremely jealous that her stepdaughter (bride) was having a reception. So, she decided to make it a double reception in secrecy. She didn't even tell her own husband. The day of the wedding, SM comes waltzing into the ceremony wearing the same *white* dress she wore to her courthouse wedding. She also had her own small wedding cake. At the reception, she practically dragged FOB onto the dance floor as soon as the music started for the stepdaughter’s first dance and then dragged her own father onto the floor for the father/daughter dance. The bride was PISSED but kept her cool and let her SM’s behavior slide because she didn’t want to cause a scene at her own wedding. Until it was time to cut the cake."
"As everyone was gathering for the cutting, the SM demands the catering staff bring her cake out, too. The bride decided she wasn’t gonna let the step-momster share her spotlight anymore. The second the SM's cake appears, the bride picks it up and SLAMS IT TO THE GROUND! The SM lets out a banshee scream and started yelling at the bride for ruining *her* day. The bride told her to f-off and GTFO.
SM lunged at her stepdaughter but slipped and fell on the cake now decorating the floor. She’s wearing three-inch heels so her ankle rolled and snapped as she slipped. So now she’s on the ground, screaming in pain, and demanding the FOB help her up and then discipline his 30-year-old daughter for being disrespectful.
But, the FOB is done with her shit. He lets out a sharp 'no' and walks away. The SM spent the next five minutes trying to get up off the ground with a broken ankle and fighting the slippery cake beneath her feet. Once she was steady on her feet, she limped out without a fight.
The FOB filed for divorce the next day."

5."I worked a wedding where the mother of the bride objected because she was pregnant with the groom’s baby. Needless to say, the ceremony did not continue. But the MOB and the groom tied the knot at our venue a year later. They’ve been happily married for 10 years and have added two more kids. In case you’re wondering, MOB was 16 years old when her eldest daughter was born and 41 when daughter got engaged."

6."When one of the bride's old friends didn't get to be one of the maids so she 'accidentally' spilled a bottle of red wine on the bride's dress. Then after that she said some really ugly things about the bride and started to fight her."

7."Not a guest, but the Maid of Honor! She stood up in front of everyone to make her speech and told the entire room how she and the bride would go out drinking until they puked, how the bride had one night stands with other men before she met the groom, and how THE GROOM was supposed to be one of her one night stands. Also, how the only reason the groom proposed was because the bride got pregnant with their son (who was the ring bearer!), and how she thought the bride was marrying a red flag because the groom's family was foreign (they are Canadian!). Needless to say, the microphone was taken away and the MOH was confused as to why she couldn't finish her speech while the bride left to cry in the bathroom and the groom needed to 'take a walk to clear his mind'. And, in case anyone was wondering if the MOH was drunk, she didn't drink any alcohol that night because she was pregnant."

9."I’m an ordained minister and have seen plenty. I was at one wedding where the brother of the bride wanted to propose to one of the bridesmaids (his girlfriend). During the reception, he asked me when a good time would be to do that. I told him next month — this is their day. He said it would be alright; it’s his 'wedding gift' to the couple. I informed the wedding coordinator, the DJ, the caterer, and the best man to keep an eye out. We all agreed if something was to happen, we would shut it down. The DJ took a small break to take care of some personal business, which is when the brother of the bride managed to get a microphone off the DJ stand and went in search of his soon-to-be fiancé."
"As soon as the wedding coordinator heard 'excuse me, can I have everyone’s attention,' he sprinted across the room 20 feet from the young, foolish couple and jumped into the air, grabbing the microphone and tossing it aside while he clotheslined the brother into the swimming pool.
The DJ did a great job getting the attention back on the newlyweds. Later I learned the wedding coordinator got a massive tip for his dry cleaning and saving the day."

11."So the best man was in love with the bride and tried to persuade her not to marry his best friend as he was known for cheating. The bride ignored the warnings. The best man paid the groom's exes to show up at the wedding. When they asked if there were any objections to the marriage, the exes (10 in total) started one by one objecting and giving the explanations that he was never faithful and couldn't be faithful. It was crazy, but when the last girl in the line started explaining how he cheated, she stated, 'As you have heard, he can not be faithful. 15."It was my sister's wedding, and after the ceremony we were taking family photos. As we were getting in place a cousin went up to our grandfather and told him to stay out of the picture since it was family only. While not related by blood he had been with our grandmother for decades, we considered him family same as any. My sister went off on the cousin and told them that it's her wedding and she chooses who counts as family. 18."A family member of the groom showed up with his girlfriend. The girlfriend had decided she was tired of waiting for him to propose, so she thought she'd make a statement... She showed up in a white lace gown with a sweep train, with her hair up and with white roses in it. The wedding was at a resort, and she managed to slide in to the one salon and juuust beat the bride there. The hairdresser thought she was the bride, and the girlfriend knew and didn't correct them. When she pulled that, he decided to break up with her. He had a blowout fight with her right there, and between the ceremony and reception, sent her packing home. If she'd just not done that and waited 24 hours, she would have found out that he'd brought a three carat diamond ring to propose to her with."

20."At my own. I had limited plus ones because of finances, and one of the bridesmaids took a friend as her plus one instead of a date (which was fine, because we knew her, at least, so no biggie). However, this friend brought her OWN plus one, someone not invited, and someone that my husband and I had only met twice in passing. She shows up wearing WHITE with a black sash, and my mom was livid on my behalf. She kept telling everyone that she couldn't wait for HER wedding, HER'S was going to be better...excuse me? And no one cared because no one knew her. Everyone was shooting her mean looks. She also had four drinks in 20 minutes of being there."
"The final straw was when she full-on yelled at my then-four-year-old niece for putting her fingers in the cake icing when it came time to cut it.

21."I went to a Hindu wedding where the ceremony was very long. Part of the ceremony itself involved the couple lighting a special candle. This set off the fire alarms, and we all had to be evacuated from the venue. When we were eventually allowed back in, half of the guests went straight upstairs to the reception instead of staying to witness the remainder of the ceremony. Whilst this was bad enough, it was made worse by the fact that they helped themselves to the hot buffet — so much so that the bride and groom didn’t get any food as there was none left by the time they had some photos and finished the ceremony."
22."I was in a wedding for a friend a few years ago. We were in the bridal suite getting pictures and helping her get ready. Her mom was late because they left her brother's tux at home by accident (it happens, no biggie). The bride had just gotten done having a beautiful moment with her father when the photographer brings her mother in (mom is already dressed, good to go). My friend turns to her mother, clearly asking for a hug, ready to have her mother-daughter moment. Her mother literally PUSHES her out of the way to get to the mirror saying, 'Oh, my God, I look awful' and stood at the mirror primping for 10 minutes. I will never forget how crushed my friend looked. One of the rudest things I've ever seen."
