When it comes to home decor, there is no one-size-fits-all. This is particularly true for holiday decorations, which get arguably more and more creative every year with new trends and ideas popping up every day.

The most recent festive trick I stumbled upon is courtesy of Caitlin Pappas, the woman behind the interior styling and photography company, Nest Out West. For real truth in reporting, Caitlin says, this is really a trick she borrowed from her mom.

☃️It’s WEEK TWO of the Holiday Home Tour, and this week’s theme is C O Z Y, so I’m sharing our guest bedroom, which I recently cozied-up for when the baby decides he’s ready to meet the world and for his grandparents to come visit. ☃️ Want to hear a simple Christmas decorating trick I borrowed from my mom? To make her living room more festive, she would always wrap all the framed art and-you’ll laugh-the TV. She didn’t want people watching the TV when we all could have (and should have) been more focused on catching up and having fun with each other. It always worked until one of the uncles wanted to turn on a big football game or college basketball game. 😂 I made a slight variation to my mom’s wrapped frames by adding a cute little DIY faux wreath to each one, hung from twine rope - $3.99 in materials from the craft store for those - and after my amazing husband helped me out by wrapping all the frames (thanks, J! 😘), it only took me five minutes to make and hang the teeny wreaths. Now our guest room is ready for baby’s grandparents to come stay and feel the Christmas spirit, even in their bedroom! 🎄 . . Check out how all my friends who are in this home tour with me bring COZY into their homes, and prepare to be inspired! ✨ . . @ashleynicoleinteriors @cabanarehab @district.eleven @katechipinski @nest.out.west @ourdailytribe @ourfiftiesfixerupper @prettydomesticated @tassoninteriors @threetimesahome . . Caitlin recalls her mother's tradition in a recent Instagram post, "To make her living room more festive, [my mom] would always wrap all the framed art and-you'll laugh-the TV." Yes, she does, in fact, mean wrap in the holiday gift-giving way. Caitlin's mom would literally wrap her wall art in festive wrapping paper to be hung back on the wall like presents. Even doing the same to her television.

"She didn't want people watching the TV when we all could have (and should have) been more focused on catching up and having fun with each other," Caitlin shared on the post. "It always worked until one of my uncles wanted to turn on a big football game or college basketball game."

This year, Caitlin made a variation of her mother's DIY tradition in her and her husband's guest bedroom. While her husband wrapped each of the frames in pretty white and gold polka dot paper-quick shout out to him for being able to wrap so neatly-Caitlin crafted tiny handmade wreaths. In total, the craft ended up costing the price of a roll of wrapping paper, plus $3.99 for the wreath material at the craft store. Seeing as though you can probably wrap at least an entire room worth of art (unless, of course, you're wrapping your TV as well) with a single roll of paper, this festive project definitely pays off.
