Here are the Peoria-area baseball teams that won 1A and 2A regional championships

Weather was the true champion this weekend as Peoria-area baseball teams attempted to take the field for Class 1A and 2A regional championship games.

Only three area games completed over the weekend — those moving their games from Saturday to Friday because of the incoming weather. The other 10 games involving area teams were played Monday afternoon (see list of scores below).

Programs winning regionals were Illinois Valley Central, Brimfield/Elmwood, Eureka, Illini Bluffs, Delavan, Henry, Lewistown and Putnam County.

In Class 2A, No. 2 seed IVC defeated No. 3 regional host Macomb, 6-3, to also earn a spot at the Knoxville Sectional.

The regional was a first for IVC since 2012 — the last season in an 11-year streak of regional titles during which the Ghosts also won three state trophies including the 2006 state championship. IVC now will face either top seed Orion or No. 7 seed Sherrard, who meet Monday in the Sherrard Regional final.

Top seed regional host Brimfield/Elmwood defeated Midwest Central 10-5 to win its ninth regional and third in five years. The Indians advance to the Knoxville Sectional for a 4:30 p.m. Thursday semifinal against Prophetstown Co-op.

Top seed Eureka beat El Paso-Gridley 9-1 to win its own regional, the program's fourth in a row and seventh since it earned a state trophy in 2013. The Hornets face Monticello at 5 p.m. Thursday in the Decatur Sectional at Millikin.

In 1A, Illini Bluffs won the Princeville Regional with an 8-6 win over the Williamsfield Co-op, the Tigers' fifth regional title in a row. IB takes on LeRoy at 5 p.m. Thursday in the semifinals of the Bloomington Sectional at Illinois Wesleyan.

Delavan won its fifth regional in the last 10 seasons, defeating Heyworth 6-1 at its own regional. Henry won the Kewanee Regional with a 4-0 win over host Annawan/Wethersfield, only the program's fourth overall and second in 30 years. Delavan and Henry meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the Bloomington Sectional at Wesleyan.

No. 7 seed Lewistown is an unlikely regional champion after a 4-1 victory over Bushnell-Prairie City at the Havana Regional. The Indians advance to a Jacksonville Routt Sectional semifinal against top seed Mount Sterling Brown County, scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
