Which Peoria-area baseball teams won IHSA regionals and sectionals this weekend?

Brimfield/Elmwood baseball is headed to the Elite Eight.

The co-op defeated Sherrard 6-3 on Saturday afternoon to win the Class 2A Knoxville Sectional. The title is Brimfield's fifth overall and first since back-to-back in 2018 and '19.

Brimfield (27-2) advances to the Geneseo Supersectional at 1 p.m. Monday against Joliet Catholic, which beat Coal City to win its own sectional.

Class 1A

Delavan fell just short of its first sectional championship with a 3-2 loss to LeRoy in the finals of the Bloomington Illinois Wesleyan Sectional on Saturday.

Delavan led 2-0 going into the bottom of the seventh, but LeRoy rallied for the win. LeRoy advances to the Springfield Supersectional at 3 p.m. Monday against Champaign St. Thomas More.

Putnam County's season also ended in the sectional finals, with a 4-1 loss to Ottawa Marquette in the championship game of the Elgin Harvest Christian Sectional. The Granville school was going for its seventh sectional title overall and first since taking second statewide in 2013.

Marquette advances to the Rockford Supersectional at Rivets Stadium, set for 10 a.m. Monday against Sterling Newman.

Class 3A

Morton, Washington and Galesburg each punched their tickets to the Washington Sectional with big, five-inning regional championship wins Saturday. They outscored their three opponents 35-5.

The Potters rallied to beat Mid-Illini Conference rival East Peoria 14-4 to win their own regional. The Panthers earned an 11-1 win over Richwoods to take the Metamora Regional title. The Streaks beat Streator 10-0 to win at home.

Braylan Smith hit the walk-off home run for Morton (27-7), which advances to face Rock Island in the semifinals of the Washington Sectional, set for 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. Ethan Hurst and Beau Durbin also homered for the Potters, who now have four regional titles since 2017 and 12 overall. Morton trailed 4-1 after the first inning.

Gus Lucas (10-1) got the win going 3.2 innings for Washington (31-5), allowing one run on five hits, with two walks and six strikeouts. He also was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Tyler Bishop added two hits and an RBI, while Lucas Price had a home run and four RBIs for the Panthers, who finished fourth statewide last season.

Charlie Lardi threw a one-hit shutout for Galesburg, which will play at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday against Washington.
