Peoria motorcyclist dies after collision with truck near Park West mall

A man riding a motorcycle collided with a truck and died Friday night in Peoria, police said.

Police said the rider was identified as Aaron Allen, 44, of Peoria.

Shortly after 8 p.m. Friday, Peoria police said that officers and Peoria Fire-Medical personnel responded to a crash on 99th Avenue, just north of Northern Avenue.

Officials said the crash involved a truck and a motorcycle. Preliminary investigation information showed the driver of the truck was turning left into the Park West shopping mall from 99th Avenue and that the motorcycle was heading northbound on 99th Avenue. Police said the collision occurred when the truck turned in front of the motorcycle.

Police said Allen received significant injuries and was taken to a hospital where he later died.

The driver of the truck was not injured and stayed at the scene, according to police.

"This appears to be a tragic accident, no arrests have been made, and no citations have been issued," a Peoria Police Department news release stated.

The incident was under investigation by the Peoria Police Department's Traffic Services Unit. Police said there was no indication at the time that the truck driver was impaired.
