Perception Programs, Inc. helps people get back on their feet

Sep. 12—W I L L I M A N T I C / DANIELSON/STORRS — Perception Programs, Inc. helps those struggling with alcohol, drug abuse and/ or a mental health problem get back on their feet.

The private, nonprofit behavioral health agency is dedicated to the well- being of individuals and families throughout northeastern Connecticut.

Perception Programs, Inc. has three behavioral health centers.

The Danielson Behavioral Health Center offers individual, group and family therapy. The child and adolescent program includes individual therapy, play therapy and medication management.

The adult program at the Danielson Behavioral Health Center specializes in co-occurring disorders.

The Danielson Behavioral Health Center accepts all major health insurance, including Medicare, Medicaid and Tricare. They offer a sliding fee schedule to eligible individuals.

The Storrs Behavioral Health Center offers individuals, couples and family therapy. Services offered include mindfulness meditation, eye movement desensitization reprocessing and medication management.

The Storrs Behavioral Health Center can provide services to people ages 5 and older. Counseling services are available via telehealth.

In addition, the Storrs Behavioral Health Center accepts all major health insurance, including Medicare, Medicaid and Tricare. They also offer a fixed self pay schedule to eligible individuals.

The Willimantic Behavioral Health Center offers individual, group and family therapy to clients ages 18 and older. This site offers a full range of services in both English and Spanish.

The Willimantic Behavioral Health Center specializes in co- occurring disorders and offers sameday Suboxone, intensive outpatient services and walk- in services.

Like the Danielson Behavioral Health Center, the Willimantic site accepts all major health insurance, including Medicare, Medicaid and Tricare. They offer a sliding fee schedule to eligible individuals.

Perception Programs also offers several residential treatment programs.

Perception House is located at 134 Church Street in Willimantic. It is a 22-bed residential treatment program for women with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.

The treatment program at Perception House includes 20 hours of clinical treatment weekly, aimed at helping participants reflect, grow and become the best versions of themselves.

In addition, Perception Programs operates Grace House on 219 Valley Street in Willimantic. Grace House is a residential treatment program for women ages 18 and older who have been impacted by the criminal justice system.

The Grace House facility has five beds. It serves women with co- occurring substance abuse and mental health disorders.

"We are a trauma and gender informed program, and all treatment is tailored to the unique needs of women who have experienced trauma," reads a statement regarding the Grace House on the Perception Programs website.

The program at the Grace House includes 20 hours of individual and group therapy each week. Treatment is focused on relapse prevention, healthy relationships, life skills and mood regulation.

Next Step Cottage, located at 215 Valley Street in Willimantic offers a residential work-release program for women impacted by the criminal justice system.

In addition, Perception Programs offers affordable, comfortable recovery housing to support people in making positive life changes. Perception has three facilities in Willimantic designated as recovery housing.
