Perfect Casting Alert: Starz's Ash vs. Evil Dead Adds Lucy Lawless

Is it possible that Lucy Lawless is actually the Cylon she once portrayed on Battlestar Galactica? That woman is everywhere these days. In addition to her upcoming role on the second season of WGN America's Salem, Lawless has joined the cast of Ash vs. Evil Dead, Starz's new follow-up to Sam Raimi's hilarious horror franchise The Evil Dead, the network announced on Monday.

Lawless will play Ruby, a mysterious character who's described as being "myopic in her quest to hunt down the source of the recent Evil outbreaks." There's just one little problem with her plan: She believes that Bruce Cambell's Ash is the cause of it all, and while that's (probably) not true, it's easy to blame him when things go wrong. After shirking his responsibilities and generally avoiding any pretense of growing up and maturing over the last few decades, Ash will be forced to face his demons—both the personal kind and the literal kind—when a new Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind.

Lawless joins previously announced cast members Ray Santiago, Dana DeLorenzo, and Jill Marie Jones on Ash vs. Evil Dead's roster. Raimi is set to helm the first episode and produce alongside Campbell and Rob Tapert, and the 10-episode series will debut on Starz in late 2015.

What do you think of Lawless's casting? It's kind of perfect, right?
