Perkins To Close Tuesday After Almost 50 Years In Edina: Report

EDINA, MN — The Perkins Restaurant in Edina is set to close Tuesday after serving customers in the city for almost 50 years, FOX 9 reports.

The restaurant at 4917 Eden Ave. is set to be knocked down and replaced with an almost 200-unit, seven-floor apartment complex, after Edina officials approved new development plans for the site last year.

Forty-five employees at the Edina Perkins have been relocated to other restaurants in the area, FOX 9 reports.

Reuter Walton Development’s plans for the new apartment complex include a large restaurant space on the first floor, the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal reported.

Demolition of the Perkins and work on the new complex are expected to start later this year, according to the report.

Ten percent of the new apartments will be considered affordable housing and reserved for families who earn half of the median income in the Twin Cities metro, the report states.
