"The border guards have confirmation that his business trip abroad was canceled. Therefore, he was not allowed to cross the state border of Ukraine," he said, noting that the border guards ensure the processing and passage of people across the border exclusively in accordance with the law, including the rules for crossing the border by citizens of Ukraine.

During martial law, MPs have the right to leave the country for business trips only with appropriate permission.

Poroshenko expressed his frustration on Dec. 1, saying that despite having a business travel document signed by the speaker of Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada (parliament), he was still prevented from leaving Ukraine. He said he had dozens of scheduled meetings in Poland and the United States.
