Perry Rotary Club names John and Linda Andorf 2022 Civil Servants of the Year
The Perry Rotary Club has named John and Linda Andorf as recipients of its "Civil Servant of the Year" Award for 2022. Both were noted as having numerous roles in serving the community.
John is Mayor of Perry and as a member of the Lions Club facilitates the "Kidsight" Program. He also serves on the Racoon Valley Pet Rescue Board and is responsible for collecting donations from the businesses around town. Linda is president of the Perry Community School District Board of Education, board member of the Perry School Foundation and treasurer of the Retired Teachers Organization. She is also the past president of the Perry Piecemakers Quilt Club.
Both John and Linda are involved in the Lions and Optimist Clubs' flag project of putting out American flags on holidays. They are also the coordinators for the annual "Toys for Tots" program which provides Christmas gifts to needy children throughout the area. In addition, they assist with the annual Elks' Christmas Day Dinner for the community.
John and Linda were nominated by Linda Kaufman and Tom Lipovac.
"Linda and John demonstrate a commitment to service and a devotion to the town of Perry, Iowa, a place where culture and community thrive," the nomination letter said.
"This couple is very deserving of our award. They truly exemplify the Rotary motto of "Service above Self," Rotary President Dirk Cavanaugh added.
For many years, the Perry Rotary Club has honored a deserving individual as the "Civil Servant of the Year." Individuals who work or volunteer in the following areas are eligible for this award: law enforcement, fire department, ambulance service, emergency services, health care, human services and other closely related areas
