Perry's 24th annual Veterans Day program to be held Nov. 11

Perry's annual Veterans Day program will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 11 in the Perry Performing Arts Center.

This year marks the 24th annual Perry Community High School Veterans Day Assembly Program, a cooperative effort organized by the Perry School Foundation involving the Bluejay Congress, the Perry High School Social Studies Department, the Perry High School Music Department and the Perry chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The Veterans Day events include a complimentary breakfast for veterans, active service members, National Guard and reserve personnel from 6-10 a.m. at Perry Hy-Vee followed by a Perry Chamber coffee at 8 a.m.

The 32nd annual Perry High School Social Studies Department Veterans Day Panel Presentation will be held from 8:45-9:45 a.m. in the Perry Performing Arts Center. The panel, moderated by Gary Overla, will feature members of the Perry Area Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The annual Veterans Day program will follow at 10 a.m., featuring readings, musical selections and video presentations. Mike Powell will serve as the master of ceremonies while Don Richardson will be the keynote speaker.

The Veterans Day Luncheon will be held immediately following the program in the Perry High School Gym.

The Veterans Day events will also include veterans hats donated by Clark Fessler and TC&B and yard signs honoring veterans, funded by the Perry School Foundation.
