Person airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after two-car crash on Berlin Turnpike

A person was airlifted by LifeStar helicopter to the hospital following a crash on the Berlin Turnpike on Monday morning, according to police.

The Berlin Police Department responded to a two-car crash before 6:15 a.m. on Monday on the Berlin Turnpike. One person was seriously injured in the crash and was transported to Midstate Hospital in Meriden before being flown to Hartford Hospital by LifeStar, police said.

Northbound traffic was re-directed toward North Colony Road while investigators processed the scene. One lane of traffic has since been re-opened for travel, police said.

The Berlin police crash reconstruction team responded to the scene, police said.
