A person died in a two-vehicle accident in Lisbon, after the vehicle overturned and started on fire

A passenger died in a two-vehicle car crash Jan. 18 in the Town of Lisbon, according to the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department.

At 11:29 a.m., the Waukesha County Communication Center was advised of a head-on collision where a vehicle ended up overturned and on fire at the intersection of Townline and Schlei roads.

According to a Waukesha County Sheriff's Department news release, a vehicle with two occupants was northbound on Townline Road when it crossed into the southbound lanes of traffic, striking an oncoming vehicle.

The passenger of the northbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of that vehicle was transported by Flight for Life medical helicopter to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa with serious injuries, according to the news release.

The driver of the southbound vehicle was transported to Froedtert Menomonee Falls with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The Menomonee Falls Fire Department and the Lisbon Fire Department had assistance from the Menomonee Falls Police Department, Lannon Police Department, Germantown Police Department and the Merton Community Fire Department. According to the news release, the Wisconsin State Patrol assisted with accident reconstruction.

Traffic was shut down on Townline Road for 4½ hours during the investigation.
