Person rescued from inside of grain bin in Litchfield, Illinois

LITCHFIELD, Ill. – One person had to be hospitalized after being rescued from a grain bin Tuesday afternoon.

The Litchfield Fire Department, ambulances and police officers arrived at Litchfield Farmers Grain around 2:15 p.m., where they discovered one person entangled around an auger inside a grain bin.

Multiple first responders climbed into the grain bin, where they located two Farmers Grain employees attempting to shovel beans out of the way.

Firefighters were able to release the person from the auger, take them out of the grain bin, and airlift them to a hospital in St. Louis. The individual suffered serious injuries.
