Person shot to death in parking lot of police station in Chester. Police have the suspect.

CHESTER — Chesterfield Police are investigating the shooting death of a person early Sunday night in the parking lot of the police station in Chester.

According to police reports, the incident happened shortly before 6:30 p.m.. An on-duty officer was in the parking lot and heard a gunshot. That officer located the victim lying dead in the parking lot.

A suspect is in custody, the report said. No details were released about the motive or the relationship between the suspect and victim. No identities have been released.

The station is located on state Route 10 next to a Chic-Fil-A restaurant. The restaurant was closed at the time of the incident.
