U.S. President Donald Trump's longtime executive assistant Madeleine Westerhout had been one of Trump's closest Oval Office aides since the day he took office, but on Thursday, she abruptly resigned amid reports that she had improperly shared details about the first family at a dinner with reporters while Trump was on a working vacation at his Bedminster, New Jersey resort.

After she abruptly left, Trump on Friday said she had a 'bad night' and that she told him she was drinking when she shared those details.

According to Politico, Westerhout told reporters that she had a better relationship with Trump than his daughters and that the president did not like being in pictures with his daughter Tiffany because he viewed her as overweight.

Trump said the reports about Tiffany were false and that he 'loved Tiffany'.
