Former top Trump administration officials are vowing to fight back against President Joe Biden's new coronavirus vaccine mandate.

Mark Meadows, former President Donald Trump's White House chief of staff and a current board member of America First Legal, said that Biden's claim that the mandate is "not about freedom or personal choice" is "absolutely wrong" and pledged to "fight back, hold him accountable, and protect individual rights against these unlawful mandates."

“Joe Biden started the year claiming he wouldn’t mandate vaccines, and 9 months later, mired in failing policies and plummeting poll numbers, his administration is going back on their word," he said in a statement. "This overreach is just the latest example–one on a long list of evidence–that this administration will not hesitate to disregard the law in pursuit of their own agenda, even to the point of trampling workers and employers along the way."

Three other former Trump officials echoed Meadows's sentiments and predicted to the Washington Examiner the Biden administration would be facing multiple suits over the announcement.

Brooke Rollins, former White House domestic policy council director, called the mandates a "perversion of executive power that ignores scientific evidence and actively erodes the public's trust in the fight against the pandemic."

"Rather than inspire hope and ensure Americans that we will one day return to normal, Biden sowed fear and division — essentially surrendering to the virus and those who have co-opted it for political gain," Rollins continued. "Keep in mind this announcement comes from an administration who is on the record opposing mandates such as this. Businesses across the country should refuse to endorse this egregious violation of our most fundamental rights and stand on the side of freedom and science."

Former Vice President Mike Pence blamed Vice President Kamala Harris for undermining the Trump administration's vaccine push during the 2020 vice presidential debate.

"I mean, to have the president of the United States say that he has been 'patient,' but his 'patience is wearing thin,'" he said on Fox News Friday. "That’s not how the American people expect to be spoken to by our elected leaders."

The Republican National Committee also plans to sue the Biden administration "to protect Americans and their liberties."

Biden, in turn, challenged the GOP to "have at it" during a Friday afternoon trip to Brookland Middle School in Washington, D.C.

Without mentioning them by name, the president proceeded to criticize Republican Govs. Greg Abbott of Texas and Ron DeSantis of Florida for being "cavalier with the health of these kids" and "the health of their communities."

"We're playing for real here. This isn't a game," he continued. "One of the lessons I hope our students can unlearn is that politics doesn't have to be this way."
