Pet monkey escapes, attacks woman in Dickson, Oklahoma
DICKSON — A woman in Carter County says she was attacked by an escaped pet monkey Sunday afternoon.
Brittany Parker told KOKH that she spotted the monkey as it was attempting to open the screen door to her home. When she went outside to meet police after calling 911, she was attacked. She said she suffered injuries to her face, and needs surgery to repair her ear.
The monkey was later shot and killed by one of Parker's family members.
Police have not identified the owner of the monkey. They also told KOKH they were not aware someone owned a monkey within Dickson city limits.

Can you own a pet monkey in Oklahoma?
Generally, primates can be legally owned in Oklahoma without a special permit or license.
Great apes such as chimpanzees are considered protected, endangered, or threatened, and may not be owned without written permission from the state Director of Wildlife Conservation.
