Petco to open store in New Philadelphia
NEW PHILADELPHIA ― National retailer Petco is planning on opening a store in New Philadelphia in the near future.
At Monday's city council meeting, Service Director Ron McAbier announced that the company has confirmed that it will build a store on Bluebell Drive between Menards and Walmart.
The store will follow a new design. It will be a Neighborhood Farm and Pet Supply pet care store, which will carry food and supplies for pets, but also farm animals, including cows, goats, horses, pigs, sheep and others.
According to the website Pet Food Processing, the stores will offer high-quality pet food products, an assortment of farm and feed products, mobile vaccination and grooming services, and self-wash stations. Regarding product procurement, the stores will also offer same-day delivery, buy online and pickup in store, and curbside pickup to consumers.
The stores are aimed at serving small towns and rural communities.
"These are rapidly-growing markets where pet parents are looking for an experienced, pet-dedicated partner like Petco to help them care for the health and wellness of their animals," Ron Coughlin, chief executive officer of Petco, told the website. "This is an exciting opportunity for us to serve more pets by dramatically expanding local access to healthy pet products and services."
The first Neighborhood Farm and Pet Supply pet care store is located in Floresville, Texas, and opened in June.
McAbier said the company wants to start work on the store by the end of the year or as late as January or February.
