Although we thought Hannah Brown’s return and Alayah were a lot to handle at the start of Peter Weber’s season of The Bachelor, his mom Barb turned out to be the real handful. And even though she publicly shaded her 28-year-old pilot son at the After the Final Rose special, Weber is still Team Barb.
As a reminder, Barb didn’t mince words when she expressed that she thought Weber was making a mistake getting back together with Madison Prewett after breaking off his engagement with Hannah Ann Sluss. In response to Weber’s decision to rekindle his romance with Prewett, Barb told Chris Harrison, “He’s going to have to fail to succeed. That’s it. Chris, all his friends, all his family, everyone that knows him knows that it’s not going to work, so we’ve been trying to help him.”
One might imagine this would cause tension between Weber and his mom, but he was quick to tell Bachelor alum Nick Viall that there’s no bad blood between them.
During a visit to Viall’s podcast, The Viall Files, Weber set the record straight: “Listen, my family in general, they’re my rock. I’ll defend them ’till the day I die. I love them more than anything. They truly just want the best for me.” Yes, he means even Barb.
He went on to clarify that he knows his mom’s not perfect, saying, “In regards to what occurred on stage, you know…could [my mom’s] delivery been different? 100 percent. But where that was coming from was a place of pure love. That’s who my mom is.”
Weber praised his mother and supported how she acted during her time on TV. “I respect the hell out of my mom. To be able to speak her mind and not feel the pressure to cave into a certain narrative on live television, in front of millions of people…that takes a strong person,” he pointed out. “That’s the love of a mother.”
All we can say is that Barb’s probably pretty excited Weber is spending so much time with Kelley Flanagan…
