Petersburg: Farmers market canceled tomorrow, possible wind gusts

PETERSBURG — The River Street Market is closed tomorrow due to the predicted nasty weather. The 2023 season opening day has been rescheduled for the following week.

"It's just not safe to set up outside in weather like that," Cheryl Bursch, River Street Market manager, posted across social media platforms. "We will be open at the POP Market in the Market at Petersburg Public Library from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. and will take already purchased Market tokens. Come shop safely inside."

This morning, the National Weather Service of Wakefield's forecast for Saturday includes a chance of showers before 11 a.m., then showers and possibly a thunderstorm between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The high will be near 78, and it will be breezy with a southwest wind, 18 to 24 m.p.h. with gusts as high as 43 m.p.h.

The Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
