Petitgout defeats challenger to remain McDonough County sheriff: See other races

MACOMB — Nick Petitgout (R) will remain sheriff after McDonough County's election results came in on Tuesday night.

“I just want to thank everyone in McDonough County who showed up to vote. The turnout was tremendous and I look forward to continue to serve the people,” Petitgout said.

Mark Clark (I) posted his response on his election page on Face Book.

“We are obviously disappointed with tonight's results, but we appreciate all of your support over the past many months. I want you to know that I really enjoyed meeting so many of you during this campaign,” Clark wrote.

Petitgout came in with 6,275 votes at 68.5% of the votes and Mark Clark came in with 2,884 votes at 31.49% of the votes.

For County Board District 1 voters were instructed to choose no more than seven. The results were as follows:

Larry Aurelio (R) - 1,347 votes, with 12.75% of the votes.

Eric Blakeley (R) - 1,160 votes, with 10.98% of the votes.

Jerry Raby (R) – 1,086 votes, with 10.28% of the votes.

Richard J Marcott (D) - 971 votes, with 9.19% of the votes.

Dana Roy Walker (D) -1,011 votes, with 9.57% of the votes.

Ken Durkin (D) - 1,064 votes, with 10.07% of the votes.

Deckle McLean (D) - 976 votes, with 9.24% of the votes.

Dustin Berg (D) - 998 votes, with 9.44% of the votes.

Michael D Kirby (D) - 990 votes, with 9.37% of the votes.

Kelly Gradert (D) - 964 votes, with 9.12% of the votes.

For County Board District 2 voters were instructed to choose no more than seven. The results were as follows:

Travis Hiel (R) – 2,262 votes, 13.58% of the votes.

David Cortelyou (R) - 2,184 votes, with 13.11% of the votes.

Eric Chapman (R) – 2,111 votes, with 12.68% of the votes.

Craig Foster (R) – 2,089 votes, with 12.54% of the votes.

L Scott Schwerer (R) – 2,021 votes, with 12.14% of the votes.

Joe Erlandson (R) - 1,852 votes, with 11.12% of the votes.

Clayton Murphy (R) - 1,863 votes, with 11.19% of the votes.

Kathy Olesen-Tracey (D) – 994 votes, with 5.97% of the votes.

Rod McGrew (D) - 1,277 votes, with 7.67% of the votes.

For County Board District 3 voters were instructed to choose no more than seven. The results were as follows:

George D Dixon (R) – 2,341 votes, with 13.64% of the votes.

Terra J Litchfield (R) - 2,476 votes, with 14.43% of the votes.

Michael Cox (R) - 2,266 votes, with 13.20% of the votes.

Vicky Kipling (R) – 2.342 votes, with 13.65% of the votes.

David E Nissen (R) - 2,092 votes, with 12.19% of the votes.

Letha Clark (R) - 2,213 votes, with 12.90% of the votes.

Jarad Royer (R) - 1,979 votes, with 11.53% of the votes.

Tim Roberts (D) – 1,452 votes, with 8.46% of the votes.

Both judges Heidi Benson and Raymond Cavanaugh will be retained. Benson had 7,536 votes to retain (85.52%) and 1,276 against retaining (14.48%). Cavanaugh had7,327 votes to retain (84.88%) and 1,305 against retaining (15.12%).
