Petoskey school board schedules second round superintendent interview
PETOSKEY — The search for the Public Schools of Petoskey's next superintendent is nearing completion.
The district's board of education recently wrapped up first round interviews with three candidates this week. They have extended a second round interview offer to one of those candidates, according to Lori Lewis, executive assistant to the superintendent.
In total, 10 people applied for the position and the board ultimately interviewed three candidates in the first round.

The board interviewed Lisa Jacobs, executive director of community services/Early College coordinator for Rockford Public Schools, Mark Brenton, superintendent of Bellaire Public Schools, and Dr. Jeffrey Leslie, superintendent of New Buffalo Area Schools. Leslie was asked to the second round interview, as confirmed by Lewis.
The board of education will host its second round interview with Leslie at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26 in Petoskey Middle School's media center, 801 Northmen Dr. The interview is open to the public.

The district's previous superintendent, Chris Parker, resigned in May after a report found 90 percent of district staff believed the culture to be “broken.” An evaluation also concluded that Parker had been “minimally effective” in his role as superintendent.
Petoskey Middle School Principal Jon Wilcox has been serving as acting superintendent since then.
