Apr. 3—Flora is a 41 pound, black-and-white, mixed-breed dog who is about 4 years old. She was transferred from a different shelter. She is a sweet and playful girl who loves to be around people. She seems independent at first but once she warms up, she would love to play. Flora is undergoing heartworm treatment, so she needs a home to help keep her calm while she finishes undergoing the treatments. Animal Allies, Duluth, 218-722-5341,

Rumi is a female black-and-white tuxedo cat. She is beautiful, sweet and petite. She was recently rescued from a large cat colony of more than 60 cats. With good care, food and a loving foster home, she's now ready for a forever home. Rumi is a friendly, easygoing cat who is content being with people or doing her own thing. She'd do best with a cat friend in the home and would be OK with a dog. Helping PAWS Pet Rescue, Inc., 715-513-6106,
