Pets of the Week: Winter Wonders - Ty and Beefy will keep you warm and cozy

·4 min read

It’s that time of year again. The most wonderful time of the year is over, and spring’s arrival is still far off in the horizon. On the plus side, the Eagles are in the playoffs, and the Sixers have been on a tear lately. But if you’re looking for a more permanent solution to banish the winter doldrums, why not add a ray of sunshine to your life? You don’t need to shell out thousands for a second home in the Caribbean - in fact, you don’t even need to leave Burlington County.

Pets of the Week: Ty and Beefy

While Charlie Brown and the Peanuts gang know that happiness is a warm puppy, Ty thinks that quote should be expanded to include warm kitties. Sweet, friendly and affectionate, Ty is the perfect lap warmer that won’t have your electric bill skyrocketing. This handsome seven-year-old tabby loves to snuggle, and starts purring as soon as you begin petting him. Ty is a very considerate fellow who will give you head butts and rub his head on your hand to cheer you up.

Ty tested positive for the feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), but that doesn’t bother him, and he hopes you’ll feel the same way. Healthy cats with FIV generally live long, happy lives. FIV can be transmitted to other cats (but not to humans or dogs) through deep bite wounds, but not through casual contact, such as sharing a food or water bowl, playing, or grooming. That means that many cats with FIV are able to live harmoniously with other cats! If you'd like to see more of Ty - and who wouldn't? - check out his YouTube video (Search FriendsofBCAS on YouTube).

Ty is ready to settle down on the couch and catch up on all the Sixers action ahead of the playoffs. And how cute would he look in a little Joel Embiid jersey?

Submit an adoption application through the Burlington County Animal Shelter’s Petango page (petango.com, enter the shelter’s zip code of 08060, then go to the shelter page and click on Ty's picture), then call the shelter at 609-265-5073 (ext. 4) to set up a meeting.

While Beefy is normally a football fan, he was super excited to hear that the Sixers just signed Charlie Brown Jr. to a contract! Now, he is hoping to find the Charlie Brown to his Snoopy.

Beefy may be a little bigger than Snoopy, but he also has the heart to match. A happy-go-lucky pup, Beefy’s tail is always in motion when he is around people he likes. And that happens to be pretty much everyone! Beefy loves the attention he receives from his volunteer friends and even enjoys posing for photos. Despite being quite photogenic, Beefy would rather be an athlete than a model. This active fellow loves playing outside and taking long walks, and will also be a great jogging and hiking partner.

Beefy is interested in everything and anything his humans are doing, and enjoys learning new things. Whether it’s taking a day trip to the beach, or investigating a new hiking trail, Beefy will be an eager companion.

Beefy is also a huge football fan, and he's hoping to be adopted before the Super Bowl so he can help you plan your party.
