Pets welcome in Leu Gardens for one ‘Dog Day’

Leu Gardens, Orlando’s 50-acre botanical oasis, is typically reserved for family-friendly outings, romantic strolls and get-togethers of friends.

For one day in October, the gardens will welcome pets for the first event of its kind. “Dog Day” at Leu Gardens is open to canines and their families on Oct. 14.

Each dog will receive a goodie bag with a themed bandana while supplies last. Other activities include dog contests for the best dressed, most talented and best kisser.

Pet parents can browse from a range of vendors, including Bonapet Treat, Dog Training Elite Orlando, Eola Pets, Pei & Threads, Squeaky Clean Grooming, Zoey’s Adventures and several dog rescues.

Kelly’s Homemade Ice Cream will be on-site selling ice cream and pup cups. All of the activities are included in the price of admission.

If you go: Dog Day in the Gardens goes on from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 14 at 1920 N. Forest Ave. in Orlando. General admission applies at $15 per adult, $10 per child and $5 per dog. Children ages 4 and younger, active military members and Leu Gardens members enter for free. Dogs must be on a leash, and owners must dispose of pet waste.
