The Manning brothers are taking their sibling rivalry into the 2023 Pro Bowl.

The new-look Pro Bowl competition, which began Thursday night, will include three flag football games coached by Eli and Peyton Manning on Sunday. Peyton leads the AFC in the events while Eli leads the NFC, joined by several other accomplished coaches.

While there were several last-minute substitutions and alterations to the Pro Bowl roster, the brothers mentioned several reasons they're taking leadership in the competition's new format.

Here's a few explanations on why the Manning brothers are coaching the 2023 Pro Bowl.

An opportunity to showcase Eli's flag football talents

Approaching the Pro Bowl flag football games, the Manning brothers appeared on NFL Network to discuss their rivalry and their goals for the event.

Eli mentioned that while the brothers only met three times in their NFL careers, citing Peyton's five-year age difference, he never had the opportunity to face Peyton in flag football and other skill competitions. While showing clips of his fifth grade flag football career, Eli showcased his strengths for the game on Sunday.

"Peyton never played flag football," Eli said on NFL Network. "I'm at a major advantage coaching the NFC."

Omaha productions involvement and winning the game

When the Pro Bowl's restructuring was first announced in September, the league confirmed that Peyton's company, Omaha Productions, would be responsible for production and promotion for the event. While growing his audience, Peyton will play a major role in coaching the AFC to grow youth awareness for the sport.

Aside from Omaha Productions' involvement, Peyton is striving to win the flag football game. During a segment of the Pat McAfee Show on Friday, Peyton described his goals for the competition and joked about the stakes of the game. He mentioned that the players are racking up the bar tab in Las Vegas with room service and undisclosed cold beverages, and that the winner would make more money than the losing team.

"I went to Tennessee, I'm not that smart," Peyton jokingly said on the show. "But the math is simple, if we win, we get more money to pay for our hotel bill."
