Peyton Stovall out for beginning of season with broken foot

Fayetteville, AR (KNWA)- Arkansas second baseman Peyton Stovall will miss the first 4-6 weeks of the season with a broken foot. The news was told to Pig Trail Nation Wednesday morning by a UA spokesperson.

Stovall was hit in the foot while at bat during the Hogs scrimmage on Monday. He will not require surgery.

Coming into his junior year, Stovall was looking forward to the season. In a sit-down interview with Stovall he told us, “Going into this season I’m just looking to have some fun and win. Being in the locker room with those guys and enjoying the process more than the outcome.”

With the injury, look for Peyton Holt to move over to second base. He took over that spot a season ago when Stovall injured his shoulder. Holt’s been working mostly at third base during the scrimmages. Jared Sprague-Lott, who has also worked at third during the scrimmages, will step into Holt’s role. Sprague-Lott came to Arkansas this season after three years at Richmond.
