The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have quite a few needs to address in the aftermath of the Tom Brady era, but there are two that are perhaps more glaring than others.
Pro Football Focus’ Trevor Sikkema analyzed the biggest needs for every NFL team after the first wave of free agency, and he believes that quarterback and offensive tackle are the team’s two biggest needs going forward.
Here is what he had to say about the two positions:
The Bucs signed Baker Mayfield to a one-year deal, but like many other teams that signed veterans, that doesn’t change their need to hit on the quarterback position. They also moved on from left [tackle] Donovan Smith, so addressing that hole remains paramount.
Whether the Bucs will draft a quarterback is an interesting question. While it’s unlikely the team will do so in the first round, there are plenty of later-round options the team could pursue, such as quarterback Hendon Hooker — a player that Tampa Bay is bringing in for an official visit. Tackle is much more pressing, however, and there’s a very good possibility the Bucs will look to address that position with the No. 19 pick.
